[DISC] Jan Mayen (Promods Addon)

After going back and forth for about a week deciding what to make, I have settled on making the island of Jan Mayen.

Jan Mayen is a Norwegian volcanic island located in the Arctic Ocean located roughly 370 miles north east of Iceland.

It's a small project as I didn't want to bite off more than I could chew for my first release. However the island is teeming with culture.

This is an early work in progress, only been at it tonight. Everything is subject to change, but the overal theme you see will be staying.

Please note I am having to go off of Google Maps data, and images I can find online. Not really a streetview map for this!



The first release will consist of:

2 ferries: One from Torshavn and one from Nordkapp leading to Xoryx's Greenland mod (maybe)
3 settlements: Olonkinbyen, Norkapp and Sorkapp.
3-4 companies, mainly fish and heavy general goods.

4th July: Small update for the weekend. The road to Puppebu is being built.

Nordkapp Garages (Nordkapp is currently being built, there will be a small town, road network and a mountain with the real statue)

Yeah it's gonna be mostly gravel, and a few snow roads. Not many because the grip is bad and I don't have a "the speed of the snow" mod or know how to make it.

Thanks! Olonkinbyen is slowly being built. Not too many decent images of it to go by, but I have one isometric view (think diablo's camera view.) That is very good, I get a good look at it from the top down.

Thanks! This is still in progress, I know I haven't posted a lot recently. It's really hard to find decent images so having to make my own roads pretty much.

Small update for the weekend, a little rework on the roads, ice bergs and mountains have appeared

Gives it such a feeling of depth I feel with the mountains, and a small house in the foreground.

Road to Puppebu is being built.

looking awesome! I will definitely download this when you make it available. I think that bridge is pretty sweet, to be honest. Would be cool to drive. And I would live in that house, beautiful scenery and secluded! My kinda place lol

I may have to scrap that bridge for GPS routing reasons, it may throw off the navigation cache. I will have it sorted don't worry

Bene a while since we had an update, and I have been juggling too many projects as usual.

Here's some screenshots of what i have been working on.

jan Mayen Station has a sign, with the blue extracted from a real photo for authenticity. I may model a station cabin, but it's not too high on my list of priorities. Since this looks OK.

Custom mossy rock ground textures, I will be doing quite a few custom textures.

Building a proper ferry port and not just putting a ferry icon in the middle of the beach.

Road to Puppebu is taking shape, just need to def it up with a city and company.

Everything is one file. The custom signs, custom textures etc.

I do plan on doing some rock models as well.

If all goes well we should have a Beta later today. I have one "dead end" road which may throw up GPS errors. It's a really nice looking area so I hope I don't have to alter it too much.

All is working as intended now, I had forgotten to tick "ferry entrance" so jobs weren't leaving the island! I will be doing a video prior to release.

Beta is coming very shortly.
